SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Mary-Ellen Campbell & Adele Outteridge
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Umbrella to hear from two highly esteemed book artists\, Mary-Ellen Campbell and Adele Outteridge\, who are both visiting Townsville. The two artists will discuss their artistic practices and techniques\, showcasing a variety of their artworks and how they take the two dimensional and turn it into unique three dimensional forms. Mary-Ellen is currently an artist in residence at the Riverbank Studio and will talk about the books she has created on residencies or other travels across the world.\nMary-Ellen Campbell is Professor Emeritus of Art at New Jersey City University\, NJ. where she taught for thirty-four years. She has taught Book Arts workshops across the US and abroad. Her education includes a BA in Art Education\, St. John’s University\,NY\, an MA from Michigan State University\, and an MFA from Pratt Institute\, NY.  As a multidisciplinary artist who does graphics\, painting\, sculpture\, printmaking\, book arts\, and mixed media work\, she has had 16 national/international solo exhibitions and over 80 group and invitational shows.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdele Outteridge is a book artist\, printmaker and sculptor\, with a BSc University of Melbourne. Adele studied and taught with the School of Colour and Design in Sydney attending many workshops with Australian and international tutors. Adele co-runs The Studio West End in Brisbane travelling nationally and internationally\, lecturing\, workshopping and as artist-in-residence with projects in schools and elsewhere\, including Arrowmont School\, Gatlinburg\, Tennessee and at the Women’s Studio Workshop\, New York. Her work has appeared in books and publications in Australia and overseas.  Her work in artists' books\, printmaking\, sculpture and drawing has been exhibited widely and is held in private and public collections\, nationally and internationally including the State Library of Queensland’s James Hardie Collection.\n\n\n\n\n
