SUMMARY:Marker-resist Etching Workshops with Jill O'Sullivan
DESCRIPTION:Join Umbrella and master printmaker Jill O'Sullivan for two experimental etching workshops. Participants of all skill levels will be introduced to a new printmaking technique combining traditional etching with the illustrative benefits of permanent markers.\nParticipants will need to attend both workshop sessions to draw\, etch\, proof\, print and experiment with backgrounds. Jill will provide ongoing demonstrations and participants will be encouraged to experiment and develop their skill base. Participants will each produce small editions of their work. Participants are required to wear covered footwear\, and are encouraged to bring their own sketch book\, image ideas\, and COVID-safe masks. All other materials (including copper plates and paper) and morning tea will be provided. Additional copper plates will also be available for purchase for $12 each.\nThe workshops will be held in the downstairs Makerspace of Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts\, 408 Flinders Street\, Townsville (next to Mary Who? Bookshop and opposite Woolworths).\nMARKER-RESIST ETCHING WORKSHOPS\n9:30am-12:30pm (3hrs) Saturday 27 March\, and\n9:30am-12:30pm (3hrs) Sunday 28 March 2021\nTickets (6 hours total) $190 each for Umbrella members | $210 each non-members | Limited to 10 spaces\nFor Umbrella members\, log in to your account to receive your workshop discount | Bookings close 5pm Friday 26 March 2020\nJill O'Sullivan has been an active artist since the late 1980s\, and has completed a PhD Creative Arts\, Master of Creative Arts\, Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours)\, Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Grad. Certificate of Tertiary Teaching. She has undertaken artist residencies in Wales\, China and numerous Australian arts organisations and schools.
