SUMMARY:PUNQ | "Winter Rose Zen" Workshop with Al Green
DESCRIPTION:"The dry tropics are rather unique in that roses still bloom in winter - It’s a subject I discovered last year.  \n\nWorking at last light through vintage lenses I found that roses emerging from gathering darkness displayed a unique character.  Perhaps because of imperfections in the glass\, light was transformed into something special and infinitely variable. We will explore this idea\, in a series of participative workshops\, with vintage lenses from around the world and across time. We’ll start with legendary German lens makers like Leica\, Zeiss and Schneider Kreuznach.  Beyond that we’ll adapt the lenses of emerging Japanese makers mastering the art in 50’s and 60’s.  And then there the Soviet’s who adapted German technology to make some really intriguing lenses with unique attributes ironically often coming from variable quality control. We’ll throw in a few contemporary lenses to compare. But above all\, we’ll have fun." - Al Green.\n\nThis workshop is a FREE event\, running each weekday from 2nd to 9th August. The Friday events will run 5.30-6:30pm and Mon - Thurs events will run 5pm-6pm.\n\nYou can find Al Green’s shop in Northtown Shopping Centre on Flinders Street\, Townsville CBD. On the PUNQ map this is in Shop E.
