DESCRIPTION:Umbrella is responding to government restrictions for gatherings at this time and visitors must comply with our COVID-19 Safety Plan. Please join our eNews or follow our social media for updates.\nLocal artist Karen Williams’ Creative Kids | Rare & Wild project presents a fun and engaging activity aimed at children 3-11 years old. Umbrella is extending the project into the gallery space as free self-guided activities! In the activity and template kit\, Karen helps children to discover and get to know some of Townsville and North Queensland's rare and endangered wildlife while creating fun cardboard characters. Children can choose to make a mobile or 3D standing figures\, or just have fun colouring. Use the templates along with cardboard and the materials provided\, then finish off your animals with collage or coloured pencils.\nAll children must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. Bookings are not required but visitors must comply with Umbrella's COVID regulations and directives.  Self-guided activities available during the gallery's opening hours Saturday 12 - Saturday 19 December 2020 (Tues-Fri 9am-5pm | Sat-Sun 9am-1pm). Please note that Umbrella will be closed for the year from 1pm Saturday 19 December 2020. Umbrella will reopen with new exhibitions in late January 2021.\nRead more about the project (and download the activity materials for free to complete at home) here from Saturday 12 December 2020.\nCOVID-19 Regulations:\nMaterials will be sanitised after visits; the space is limited to 14 people (including parents / guardians) at a time; please maintain social distancing of 1.5m; see more at our Covid-Safe plan. It is a condition of entry that visitors to Umbrella comply with our COVID-safe plan and directives. \nCommissioned by Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts through Creative Kids\, this project receives generous support from the Regional Arts Development Fund. RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Townsville City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. Creative Kids is Umbrella’s program for children aged 3-11 years old. It encourages children to let their imaginations run wild and to experiment with a range of materials and techniques.\n
