DESCRIPTION:Places Available: 12\n\nUmbrella Studio Administration Fee: $50 per participant*\n*Two sponsored positions available upon application to Umbrella Studio (Please note one of these places has been filled)\n\nThis workshop is suitable for all levels. Participants can proceed at whatever level\, and in whatever medium they want to enrich their knowledge of colour.\nThe workshop will be an open-ended mostly practical exploration of approaches to invented colour\, including:\n\n\tThe relationship between tone and colour\n\tThe expressive power of colour and its uses in context\n\tSimple and complex schedules to create colour schemes\n\tEarth colours and chromatic colours\n\tWorking with a limited palette\n\tInteraction between colours\n\tComplementary colour\n\nParticipants should bring the following:\n\n\tMaterials/media you are working with\, the exception being oil based media because they take longer to dry; and the fumes may be a problem in the space for other\nparticipants.\n\tSome small fine brushes\n\tSufficient paper\, small canvases to do a range of experiments and one to maybe start a final work\n\tA ruler\, pencil\, rubber\n\tSpare note paper\n\tA choice of photographic material\, a treasured object or garment to use as departure point for colour exploration: at least half a dozen images\, as well as photo copies (good quality) of them in black and white.\n\tMake sure that the tubes\, tablets\, pots\, pens or pencils you bring to the workshop include a choice of both the chromatic (red\, yellow blue etc) and earth (ochres\, umbers\, siennas etc) colour range and of course\, lots of white\n\tSomething for lunch\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n
