Join us to hear from well-known British artist and creator of the world’s first underwater sculpture park, Jason deCaires Taylor. Jason has been engaged by the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA) in Townsville to create a series of underwater sculptures at locations including the Strand, John Brewer Reef, Magnetic Island and Palm Island.

Jason combines his skills as a sculptor, marine conservationist, underwater photographer and scuba diving instructor into his work. His pioneering public art projects are not only examples of successful marine conservation, but works of art that seek to encourage environmental awareness, instigate social change and lead us to appreciate the breath-taking natural beauty of the underwater world.

Umbrella Studio has been working with the MOUA to secure opportunities for local arts practitioners to engage with this incredible artist, learn more about his practice and potentially contribute to the construction of the underwater sculptures. At this meet and greet session you will have the opportunity to learn more about Jason’s practice, the project and how you might be able to become involved.
