Deadly Developments

This new program is running for the first time in 2020 with the support of the Townsville City Council.  It is an opportunity for ten North Queensland First Nations artists to utilise our new Makerspace Downstairs for supported studio practice and to create new artworks for our exhibition Deadly NQ Artists which is part of the 2020 Northern Australian Festival of the Arts (NAFA).

Deadly Developments provides an opportunity for these artists to experiment, develop new ideas, and interact with other artists and the community with the support of the Umbrella Studio team.  The inaugural iteration of the program runs from 24 February 24th to 23 August 23th of 2020.  The objectives of this project are to support the studio practice and career development of NQ First Nations artists whilst increasing the recognition of Townsville and Umbrella Studio as a place of excellence for First Nations arts and culture.
