CANCELLED Drawing Workshop with Ron McBurnie

Join Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts and local artist Ron McBurnie for a drawing workshop. You will learn to apply white ink to black paper in a novel drawing process. The workshop will be run in conjunction with Legacy: Reflections on Mabo, and will be held in Umbrella Studio’s pop-up gallery space at 398 Flinders St (ex-Pop-Up Percivals).
Please bring:
– 1 dip-pen with nib holder and nib – general post-office style (not calligraphy)
– 1 sheet A2 (or larger) black Canson Mi-Teintes paper
– Spare brushes for applying broad areas of ink and inks (optional)
White ink, a black and white still-life and other workshop materials will be provided.
Ron McBurnie was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and has lived and worked in Townsville for over three decades, becoming one of Australia’s most respected artists. The artist holds a Masters of Creative Art (James Cook University), a Graduate Diploma of Art (QCA, Brisbane), a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Kelvin Grove College of Advanced Education) and a Diploma of Arts (Fine Arts) (QCA). He has lectured at the Queensland College of TAFE and James Cook University, completed residencies at various national and international locations, and exhibited prolifically. His work is featured in many Australian Regional Gallery collections, most major Australian State Galleries and the National Gallery of Australia. McBurnie is represented by Graham Galleries and Editions, Brisbane, and Brenda May Gallery, Sydney.
