The Pop-Up Ukestra hopes to engage all the people in Townsville who have a ukulele or would like to try one out, to come together in Bulletin Square to learn parts to 2-3 songs over 3 lunchtime and 2 weekend rehearsals, ready for the final performance on Sunday 11 August at noon. The $35 fee will cover your Ukestra Membership, allowing you access to attend all rehearsals, as well as ability to play in the final performance. Please note, to perform in the final show, you MUST attend at least 3 rehearsals.

The Pop-Up Ukestra is not just a whole bunch of ukuleles bashing away, rather a conducted community music experience resulting in an entertaining group performance. The secret is in the arrangement of music into skill parts and having a conductor who leaves no doubt when you should be playing! It’s all about knowing your specific part to play and working together as a group to collectively produce fun, tuneful music. The Pop-up UKESTRA caters to all skill levels from Basic’s to the Aces.

Rehearsals will be at Bulletin Square on:

5, 7, 8 August – 12pm to 1.30pm

10 August – 11am to 11.45am

Extra rehearsal at West End Hotel on:

5 August – 7pm to 8.30pm

Final Performance at Bulletin Square (during the Cotters Markets) on:

11 August – 12pm arrival for a 12.15pm performance
