PTSD Exhibtion - EOI-image

Umbrella artists are invited to show expressions of interest in being part of an exhibition highlighting portraits of people who have experienced Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is an health issue which is often ignored both privately and publicly and it is hoped the exhibition will heighten community awareness. It is expected the exhibition will take place at Umbrella Studio in 2019 but an expression of interest will need to be lodged by 28 February 2018. We hope to be able to provide a sitter who has experienced PTSD if you are unable to source your own. There is also a curatorial opportunity for someone who would like to coordinate the exhibition and curate the show. Please make your expression of interest in the exhibition and any questions you may have by clicking here to email Jan Hynes

JCU is running a series of industry and community evening engagement events in August, September and October. The free events will run on Wednesday nights 5:30-7:00pm at The Rum Garden, Heritage Exchange, Flinders East, Townsville. The series is called Removing the Boundaries – as in the boundaries between ‘town’ and ‘gown’ and also between civic leaders/professionals/stakeholders/members of the public involved in different aspects of our city’s and region’s life. The first of these is entitled ‘Co-creating Townsville Futures’. This first free event will run on Wednesday August 17th. How can Townsville and NQ co-create to innovate? …to what futures should the region aspire? The informal panel will be MC’d by Mr Warwick Powell, and each of the panel members will answer questions about what informs their vision for Townsville, but also any views that you might have about how the civic leadership, business, institutions and the community, may work together…

homepage-front of school_jpg

Town High’s annual ArtsWeek will be during Term Two this year, week 7 – Monday 23 May to Friday 27 May. We would like to invite artists/performers into the school during first and second break (11.26 – 12, and/or 1.10 – 1.50) to perform/demonstrate their craft/talent. The idea is that we will set up tables for the artists to work at, they do not need to prepare/present a workshop, only work on their artwork during this time so students are able to observe artists at work.  Performers (musical and dramatic) will be able to ‘busk’ in areas set up by the school. We are always keen on the whole school community participating in The Arts and being able to observe professionals at work. Parents and other community members have also been invited to participate in activities during the week. We are hoping there will be a range of Arts on…
