Exhibitions are your chance to show off. Having an exhibition provides you with the perfect platform to present you, your artwork and if relevant, your business, at its best.

Some of your objectives might be to:

  • Promote and show a new body of works
  • Deliver a message
  • Generate sales
  • Gain a group of dedicated followers
  • Build a brand

Umbrella staff will deliver a series of workshops that are designed to help artists develop and plan for an exhibition in any gallery space. You can attend one, a few or all sessions according to your own needs. Presentations will be one hour with 30 minutes question time.

Session One:
Presenter: Jonathan McBurnie, Director
You have a great idea for an artwork – how does that translate into a whole exhibition? The first half of this workshop is focused on developing themes, concepts and how to convey your message to an audience by considering how to build a body of work, critique and selection, and display techniques. The next step is where to display your artwork – what do galleries want to see from an artist? A great exhibition proposal is your first impression – have you given the right one? The second half of this workshop will go through the process of what to include in a gallery proposal for different types of galleries.
