| See below for pricesEvent Navigation
Join Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts and local artist Lisa Ashcroft from 10:30am-12:30pm on Sunday 3 November 2019 to create your own abstract canvas piece. You will be guided through a variety of materials (including watercolours, acrylics and oils) and a range of surface patterns, culminating in a colourful work inspired by your own style and individuality. The workshop will run in conjunction with Ashcroft’s exhibition Queensland Glitterati. Both the exhibition and workshop will be held in Umbrella Studio’s new location at 408 Flinders St (near Mary Who? Bookshop).
Please wear old clothing or an apron as the workshop may get messy! You are also invited to bring objects from the beach, garden or nature, taking inspiration and visual cues from engaging patterns, shapes and colours. All other materials will be provided. Follow the Facebook event for RSVPs and updates.
Lisa Ashcroft was born in Lancashire, England and attended Cyprus College of Art and The School of Fine Arts (New York). She has exhibited regularly in solo and group shows in Australia and overseas, and has over 15 years’ experience as a community workshop artist. Ashcroft currently has a studio in North Queensland where she responds to the region’s beauty, scale, light and energy. The resultant works are abstract, expressive paintings with luscious textures and vibrant “bubblegum” colours. Her works are inspired by everyday life and are known for their labour-intensive mark making. This includes surface scratches, drips, splashes, translucent layers and textural plains.
