Weaving Workshop with Marion Gaemers

Join Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts to learn weaving techniques with local artist Marion Gaemers. You will make your own animal (like the turtle pictured) and get to take it home with you!
The workshop will be run in conjunction with Legacy: Reflections on Mabo, and will be held in Umbrella Studio’s pop-up gallery space at 398 Flinders St (ex-Pop-Up Percivals).
All workshop materials will be provided.
Marion Gaemers is an exhibiting artist in the landmark Legacy exhibition. She has been making and exhibiting work since 1988, and is a lynchpin of Townsville’s artistic community. The artist labels herself a ‘basket maker’ by continuing female-centric traditional basketry techniques, and has been involved in GhostNet art-making projects since 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Diploma Fine Arts Upgrade) and a Graduate Diploma Material Anthropology, both from James Cook University.
