Join Umbrella Studio from 10:30am on Sunday 8 December for Culture and Trauma: Diverse Perspectives on Therapy, Memory and Subjectivity. This section of the event will be a free round table discussion particularly in association with the exhibition Today is not Tomorrow: PTSD Understories, on display until 15 December 2019. The discussion will feature guest speakers and be a safe space for discussion for those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Following this discussion, there will also be a ticketed art therapy workshop from 11:30am-12:30pm aimed at people who are affected by PTSD. Tickets are $45 and places are limited to 8 participants. Sales close Thursday 5 November at 5pm. EDIT: BOOKINGS EXTENDED TIL 5PM FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER. The workshop will be run by Dr. Barbara Cheshire (PhD, MCA, Grad Dip Ed, Dip VA) who has a wealth of experience in this field.
Please note the exhibition, discussion and workshop will be held in Umbrella Studio’s new location at 408 Flinders Street, Townsville (next to Mary Who? Bookshop). The discussion will take place in the rear of the gallery while the workshop will be downstairs in Umbrella’s makerspace. The exhibition is on display until 15 December 2019.
