Song, Steam and Stone
Charcoal drawings by Tony Fitzsimmons convey a sense of individual identity and passion for seemingly ordinary occupations, be they musicians, mechanics, singers or bellringers. Wanton, Wild & Unimagined is a playful exhibition of sculptured recycled plastics that stirs the imagination and evokes environmental reflection by Alison McDonald. This is a travelling exhibition organised by Umbrella Studio contemporary arts, toured by Museums & Galleries Queensland. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program; and supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments.

Sojourn presents an eclectic selection of large-scale abstraction works by celebrated photomedia artist Shane Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald continues his exploration of the spectacular and sublime through a selection of works conceived and developed during his brief period of stay in Townsville. This exhibition displays artworks developed from the 2017 PressNorth Printmakers artist in residence program by Margaret Crawford. The artist undertook a three month residency in the Studio Downstairs at Umbrella Studio. Crawford's artwork has predominately been inspired by North Queensland environs. In this body of work she has used iconic images of landmarks, birds and flowers of Townsville. Her impressions have been produced using both print and pottery. With an aim of involving the viewer in a visual discourse that invites new connections to sculptural experience and picture making, Bruce Reynold’s latest exhibition includes relief sculpture, relief prints and imagery painted directly onto the gallery wall.
