Light on the Fringe is a collaborative new media project featuring multiple digital projections, sound and moving images illuminating the outside east wall of the Umbrella Studio building. The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art touring exhibition is a vibrant collection of artwork by Queensland’s top high school visual art students, showcasing works on paper, sculpture, film, printmaking, photography and mixed media. The exhibition aims to recognise and promote excellence in senior visual arts education throughout Queensland state and non-state secondary schools.

In Australia, artists are situated in juxtaposing landscapes from the Great Barrier Reef, to the bush, to the harsh outback desert. We live with fire, flood, sea, red earth and some of the most unique fauna on the planet. Inspired by this harsh and prolific country, this year’s theme challenges our creative and environmentally conscious Members to create artworks limited only by the exhibition title. Natura embodies all that we are, all we can be.

A whole gallery exhibition of new works developed by combining scientific ideas with artistic process.
