6:30pm Saturday 13 June 2015 $85 fundraising dinner, Sweetbridge Larder Enjoy a truly Sicilian style dinner and authentic dining experience. The Murris in Ink monoprint exhibition, Land and Sea is on the road again. Installed last week for the launch of the James Cook University City Campus and on exhibition through April, then it travels North to TYTO in Ingham for exhibition throughout June. The exhibition builds new audiences for contemporary art and appreciation for Townsville based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander printmakers.

The exhibition Pressnorth Printmakers: Wanderlust has continued its tour in 2015, by heading to the Coalface Art Gallery in Moranbah, QLD. It will next be on display in the Main Space at Umbrella Studio alongside artworks from the Manhattan Graphics Centre (New York) artists. This exhibition will be called Wanderlust + Manhattan and opening on Friday 22 May 2015.

‘Art in the Garden’, a framed exhibition of works by 17 artists including the Townsville Watercolour Group 10am – 4pm Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 May at 14 Anderson Street, Railway Estate This is the fourth ‘Art in the Garden’ exhibition to be held in the gardens of Mo’sart Gallery at 14 Anderson Street Railway Estate. Seventeen artists are participating, including many of Townsville’s best known. Umbrella Studio will be offering four six-week printmaking courses facilitated by local Townsville printmakers. From cardboard to wood, copper and stone this series has a type of matrix (plate surface) that will appeal to you. The workshops are designed to be suitable for beginning to intermediate levels to learn and develop their skills. Limited to 10 participants per workshop. We had a fabulous night celebrating young people making art at the opening of the Audio-Technica Young Artist Prize 2015 on Friday night. The judge, Garth Jankovic spent a while choosing the winners with great difficultly! Congrautlations to the all the young artists who have taken part in the exhibition. Here are the winning entries: 1st Prize: Courtenay Millar for her print “The Bridge” 2nd Prize: Madeline Pendergast for her multimedia artwork, “The River” 3rd Prize: Jaymie Edwards for her photograph, “Dirty”

Umbrella Studio Association Incorporated is a not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation, which began as a space for emerging Townsville artists, and whilst retaining this, has evolved to become an important centre for contemporary art in North Queensland. Umbrella Studio recognises the need to build on its past achievements, and to continue to provide support for contemporary artists through its annual program of exhibitions and associated activities. 2014 Annual General Meeting 6:00pm Tuesday 24 March 2015 Umbrella Studio, 482 Flinders Street, Townsville Election of 2015 Management Committee All members are invited to attend the meeting and participate in the election of the 2015 Management Committee.
