What’s On
Umbrella Studio Association Incorporated is an inclusive, not–for–profit, members based exhibition and studio space which drives innovation, invites experimentation, encourages excellence and inspires appreciation for contemporary visual art in North Queensland and beyond. We have a wide program of events:
Exhibitions
Umbrella Studio operates four exhibition spaces: the Main space, Access space, Stairwell and the Vault. Each year we present over 24 exhibitions from established and emerging contemporary visual artists and curators.
Artist Talks
We run a program of free talks from the artists featured in the exhibitions. Participants are encouraged to engage with the artists, ask questions about their work and creative processes.
Creative Workshops
Meet and work with contemporary artists and people who want to experiment and learn interesting techniques. North Queensland’s best artists facilitate hands-on workshops that are of a high standard, reasonably priced and accessible.
Education/Youth Activities
Umbrella Studio connects with teachers, students, schools, TAFE and James Cook University to promote contemporary visual arts to students in North Queensland. We encourage and
welcome visits from schools.
Promote North Queensland Artists
We promote North Queensland artists by producing travelling exhibitions that tour nationally and internationally, and support members with public artwork referrals.
