This workshop is suitable for all levels. Participants can proceed at whatever level, and in whatever medium they want to enrich their knowledge of colour.
The workshop will be an open-ended mostly practical exploration of approaches to invented colour, including:

• The relationship between tone and colour
• The expressive power of colour and its uses in context
• Simple and complex schedules to create colour schemes
• Earth colours and chromatic colours
• Working with a limited palette
• Interaction between colours
• Complementary colour

Participants should bring the following:

• Materials/media you are working with, the exception being oil based media because they take longer to dry; and the fumes may be a problem in the space for other
  participants.
• Some small fine brushes
• Sufficient paper, small canvases to do a range of experiments and one to maybe start a final work
• A ruler, pencil, rubber
• Spare note paper
• A choice of photographic material, a treasured object or garment to use as departure point for colour exploration: at least half a dozen images, as well as photo copies (good quality) of them in black and white.
• Make sure that the tubes, tablets, pots, pens or pencils you bring to the workshop include a choice of both the chromatic (red, yellow blue etc) and earth (ochres, umbers, siennas etc) colour range and of course, lots of white
• Something for lunch
