Join Umbrella and artists from the Umbrella Makerspace Access Group (UMAG) to learn (or rediscover) basic printmaking techniques and produce artwork (including three prints for Umbrella’s 10th Compact Prints international exhibition and artwork exchange). This workshop series is a bundle which includes three workshops ($100 each if purchased individually):
Linocut Printing Workshop | 9:30am-12:30pm Sunday 30 August 2020
Acetate Drypoint Etching Workshop | 9:30am-12:30pm Sunday 6 September 2020
Transfer Release Printing Workshop | 9:30am-12pm Sunday 13 September 2020

Over the course of the three sessions (8.5hrs total), participants will create editions of four linocut prints, four drypoint etchings and four transfer prints.

Participants will receive:
– free Compact Prints registration ($25AU)
– high-quality paper for producing the twelve prints
– the option to submit three prints from one edition to Compact Prints
– nine prints for the artist to keep
– additional paper for misprints
– a 12 x 12cm piece of lino
– a 12 x 12cm piece of acetate
– non-toxic inks, release material (eucalyptus oil) and cleaning materials
– use of Umbrella’s tools, benches and printing presses
– complimentary morning tea

Participants are required to wear covered footwear, and are encouraged to bring their own images (as 12 x 12cm designs) and / or reference materials and a needle-tool if possible to the Acetate Drypoint Etching Workshop. Participants can purchase additional high-quality paper and additional lino from Umbrella, however time restrictions may not allow for more than four prints per person. All other materials will be provided.
