Transfer Release Printing Workshop (including Compact Prints registration)

Join Umbrella and artist Margaret Robertson to produce your own edition of four transfer release prints from 9:30am-12pm Sunday 13 September 2020. This workshop is the third and final in Umbrella’s series which will enable participants to learn (or rediscover) basic printmaking techniques and produce artwork for Umbrella’s 10th Compact Prints international exhibition and artwork exchange.
For each ticket purchased, the participant will receive:
– free registration for Compact Prints ($25AU)
– high-quality paper for producing four prints
– the option to submit their best / favourite three prints to Compact Prints
– one print for the artist to keep
– additional paper for misprints
– non-toxic release material (eucalyptus oil) and cleaning materials
– use of Umbrella’s tools and benches
– complimentary morning tea
Participants are required to wear covered footwear, and are encouraged to bring their own images (as a 12 x 12cm or smaller design) and / or reference materials. Participants can purchase additional high-quality paper from Umbrella on the day, however time restrictions may not allow for more than four prints per person. All other materials will be provided. While led by Margaret, the workshop will also be supported by experienced printmakers from the Umbrella Makerspace Access Group (UMAG).

Margaret Robertson is a Townsville-based artist and printmaker. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (James Cook University), visual arts degrees and certificates (Townsville College of TAFE) and a Certificate III, Information, Digital Media and Technology (Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE). The artist has run numerous workshops and classes for Umbrella and local arts organisations, including artist book and printmaking workshops. She is a long-standing member of Umbrella’s Makerspace Access Group (UMAG) and has been a Makerspace Facilitator for over 5 years.
