03/04/2014Trent Walter Workshop: The Unique Multiple Image
This workshop aims to explore a multifaceted approach to image making through monotype print processes. While each impression will be unique, multiple processes will be explored on the same sheet of paper to create a complex set of relations in the picture plane. Using both the litho and etching presses at Umbrella Studios, participants will engage with image transfer, rubbings, and monotypes from metal and plastic plates. The results will combine the painterly with the graphic in an exploration of the contemporary print. A note to participants: Please bring some source materials to the workshop. These could be examples of your own work, newspaper/magazine cuttings that take your interest, collage elements, drawings etc. Various coloured etching inks, watercolours and roller if you have them. Registrations Open Now! Our most famed, biennial exhibition: Compact Prints, is now in motion for 2014. Compact Prints is an international print exchange and exhibition of 12x12cm prints, designed to fit inside a regular CD case. You’ll send three prints from the same edition, and in return, you’ll receive a print from another entrant, who could be from anywhere in the world! One print will be exchanged with a participating artist and a second will be displayed in a CD jewel case as a part of the exhibition. The third print will be auctioned at a Fundraiser to assist with the event and the development and on-going maintenance of the newly launched Compact Prints website. The new website dedicated to Compact Prints is designed to showcase the history of the exhibition, where each exhibition has toured and provide a platform for artists to be more connected with each other. Dancenorth Artistic Director Raewyn Hill is currently developing a new work “the inside” to premiere in Townsville in 2015. Part of the creative team for this production is writer, director and dramaturg Duncan Sarkies. Join us as Raewyn and Duncan discuss the role of a dramaturg within the creation of a dance work and how they are working together. Company Conversations is an opportunity for you to meet those behind the company and gain an unique insight into the productions over the space of an hour. Composer Eden Mulholland will also perform live and Dancenorth dancers will give audiences a sneak preview of choreography from “the inside”. $80,000 Public Art Commission – Southern Gateway
Albury City Council have an exciting opportunity for artists/designers to create a significant gateway sculpture as part of our 2010-2020 Urban and Public Art Strategy. The location for the work is the East Street entrance into Albury from the Hume Freeway. The site has excellent exposure to the Melbourne-Sydney rail line, the Hume Freeway, and local traffic. Albury City envisage the work becoming a key beacon for the city and is the first of a series of gateway sculptures.
