The Mangrove Project
10/08/2013On Saturday 24 August, the Barrier Reef Orchestra will be once again delighting audiences with their latest event CONTRASTS. As part of this evening they will be performing a 15 minute work titled, Mangroves by Australian Composer Peter Sculthorpe.This musical performance event will be enhanced by a digital projection, to be projected on a screen on stage, near the orchestra. The concept behind the visuals is to present the unique Mangroves landscape using visual projections to create a multisensory experience. The film captures various aspects, filmed at different times of the day and night of the flora and fauna and other “magical” elements of Mangrove locations around Townsville.
The project was a partnership between the BRO, ABC Open and Umbrella Studio. The artistic director Michael Bromage from ABC Open, facilitated the project with 7 emerging Townsville filmmakers who appreciate the unique Mangroves environment.
