Colours of the Coral – a new, exciting exhibition is soon to open at the Museum of Tropical Queensland!

On Saturday, March 1st, the Museum of Tropical Queensland is launching a new and permanent Coral display called ‘Colours’.  In recognition of this important exhibition opening, the museum would like to enhance the Great Gallery space for a period of at least one month, with … corals and associated marine life. Corals or fish, jelly fish, crustaceans etc, can be knotted, painted, knitted, sewn, crocheted or drawn, and will be hung, strewn, placed, glued and fitted in and around the Great Gallery. The fish will need to be larger than life as they will be hung up high above the gallery floor.  We will also be including just one very large prawn. We will need to have all pieces finished and ready to install by late February.

If anyone is willing to ‘make’ and contribute a piece of coral or a marine animal that lives in our coral reefs, we would be very grateful. In fact, we will be so happy to receive your items that we would like to offer you a year’s Membership, or, if already a Member, a one-off  Free Pass into the museum to give to a family member of friend.

Finally, if you would like to work in the museum to create your pieces, please let me know so that I can organise chairs and tables and provide other information and answer any questions you may have.

If you would like to be involved or would like some more information, please contact me, Viv Moran, at the museum on:
