What’s going on with the Director?
17/04/2018You might have heard it at our exhibition opening Friday night, or perhaps on the grapevine – but in any case, we thought our members would like to know what’s going on at the gallery. Director Jonathan McBurnie has been offered a 6-month temporary position as Creative Director – Galleries, Townsville City Council. This is a great opportunity for Jonathan’s professional development, and for Townsville’s galleries which are in some need of leadership.
We are advertising to fill Jonathan’s position for 6 months – please check our “Work with us” page for those details if you know someone who could apply, and for the immediate time being, I will be acting as Director until the position is filled, having established relationships with our government partners. If you’ve recently submitted an exhibition application, they have been assessed by the selection panel and Jonathan has passed on the letters which will go out this week. Keep an eye on your mailbox! If you missed out on submitting an exhibition proposal – worry not! We accept them year-round and yours could be assessed by the next panel meeting.
The exhibition opening on Friday night was fantastic as usual – a big turnout and a very busy night for our staff and volunteers – Thank you to Tony, Kayleen, and Suzi for helping out on the night. We always appreciate our volunteers at openings – if you’d like to give some time on an opening night, let us know via the contact form.
Lastly, if you’re wondering about Pop Up North Queensland 2018 – we have not heard back from funding bodies regarding our applications, but are due to hear from one of them shortly – in the first week of May.
Kind regards,
Alan Marlowe
